Industrial Patternmaker\Cutter

The Industrial Patternmaker/Cutter must possess the ability to layout, cut, assemble, sew and repair products necessary to maintain the show quality of Disneyland Resort. Cast Members must be able to comprehend every aspect of the tasks from pattern designs to the finished product. This requires specialized knowledge and skills to perform efficiently with limited supervision.

Industrial Patternmaker/Cutter Cast Members receive a starting pay rate of $16.56 per hour.


Responsibilities

  • Drills holes through layers of fabric or cuts notches in edges of parts to mark parts for assembly.
  • Uses hand tools and industrial machines as required to attach eyelets, grommets and fasteners
  • Completes and prepares products for fabrication and installation including proper tagging and storage of products for pickup.
  • Maintains industrial sewing machines and equipment, including the changing of cutter blades when quality of cut indicates maintenance is required.
  • Maintains and calculates fabric and pattern inventory.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/arm movements such as power gripping, lifting above/below the waist, bending, stooping, and standing, climbing ladders, manipulating objects, lifting/turning rolls of fabric or other materials. Material Handling
  • Industrial Patternmaker/Cutters must lift, carry or place rolls of fabric or other materials on work surfaces and material handling carts, pallets, or other fixtures. Pushes/pulls carts, pallet jacks, hand trucks and wheeled baskets around the shop floor.


    Basic Qualifications
    Schedule Availability

  • Must be open to any shift (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift) including holidays, with any combination of days off. Operational/Functional
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools as well as specialized tools to the patternmaking and cutting trade and knowledge of how to maintain them in proper working order.
  • Ability to operate pneumatic and/or electrically driven hand tools while utilizing the correct personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to plan, execute, and complete projects on time at the required standard levels.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial environment using an industrial sewing machine and electrical cutter.
  • Experience measuring material and marking and cutting multiple layers of fabrics with shears or power cutters into parts for upholstery, draperies, awnings, umbrellas, weather covers, flags, pennants, banners, and any other product that may be required.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and ability to interpret drawings and specifications in order to cut patterns according to drawings and sketches.
  • Ability to understand and follow checklists to safely operate department vehicles or equipment and know what actions to take in case of an equipment failure. Technical Abilities Minimum of 5 years of experience:
  • Using different types of sewing machines and performing hand sewing basic
  • Using hand tools as well as specialized tools
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
  • Using and applying arithmetic and understanding numbers as related to the job
  • Making precise measurements of material and then marking and cutting multiple layers of fabrics with shears or power cutters to fabricate patterns based on existing or non-existing articles Communication Skills and Abilities
